The second half of 2020 promises to be an eventful period in the world of water sports. Here in Canada, there are several swimming competitions that swimming enthusiasts can look forward to. In this post, we look at some of the top swimming competitions happening later in the year in Canada.
1. 2020 Canadian Junior Championships
Scheduled to take place in July, this five-day event from the 22nd to the 27th will bring together the best young swimmers in the country. All of these youngsters will be competing for the title of the ultimate Canadian junior swimming champion. This competition also serves as a glimpse of the future of Canadian swimming teams.
2. 2020 Canadian Swimming Championships
In August, all eyes will be on the 2020 Canadian Swimming Championships taking place at the impressive Kinsmen Sports Centre. This 50m course swimming competition is one of the highlight events on this year’s Canadian swimming calendar. Expect to see the most prolific Canadian swimmers at this swimming gala. If lucky, most of this year’s Olympics swimmers will also participate in the event. The event which will go down between the 6th and 9th of August and will happen in Edmonton. Make a point to be there if you can.
3. 2020 Speedo Can-Am Para-Swimming Open
To wrap up the 2020 swimming galas calendar is the 2020 Speedo Can-Am Para-Swimming Open. The 50m course swimming open that happens in December will include some seasoned Canadian swimmers as well as amateurs. Expect to see some foreign swimmers at this event as well. The event will take place at the UBC Aquatic Centre in Vancouver from the 11th to the 13th of December. The event promises to be among the best in the country this year. If you can make the journey to Vancouver, then be there.
